Health execs fear they can’t fill IT jobs

For hospitals, health reform is also a technology reform – without the right IT, they’ll find it impossible to meet federal requirements.

But finding the people to carry out health IT work is a challenge, according to New York-based accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers.

About 67 percent of health care providers, PwC found, are experiencing IT staff shortages. And 59 percent say staffing challenges will make it harder for them to obtain federal incentives for setting up and making “meaningful use” of electronic health records.
