1 Course Overview Module 1 consists of creating your resume in its most basic form, capturing your marketable skills in chronological order for refinement later in the course. You will also explore the strategy of communicating your transferable skills to employers.
2 HIT Job Search
Strategies
Module 2 will show you how to create a job search strategy for your HIT career. Based upon your level of experience and qualifications, several strategic job search scenarios will be provided.
3 HIT Industry
Knowledge
Module 3 will give you a comprehensive overview of the HIT industry and inner workings of the government-funded agencies supporting EHR implementation.
4 Identifying and
Understanding
Your Transferable
Skills
Module 4 will teach you how to identify your transferable skills and effectively market them to potential employers. This is crucial part of the course as many of the HIT job openings require healthcare and/or clinical experience that many candidates haven't had.
5 Resume Writing
Strategies
Module 5 will show you how to build a targeted and professional chronological resume and cover letter. The course will also detail the critical step of customizing your resume for specific job openings and formatted for electronic submission. The concept of using key words in your resume will also be covered.
6 Interviewing Skills Module 6 will give you the concepts behind job interviewing including preparation, researching the company, interviewing etiquette, responding effectively to difficult questions, and post-interviewing tactics including negotiating. You can't avoid the necessity of selling yourself during the interview process
7 HIT Job Sources Module 7 will show you how to find sources of Health IT jobs, from vendors, online job sites, professional associations, and social media.
8 Resume Refining
and Interview
Practice
Module 8 will allow you to participate in online mock interviews so you can build your "selling" skills and gain the confidence you need to demonstrate your knowledge, experience and positive personality attributes.
9 HIT Career
Advancement
Module 9 will provide you with an understanding of how to create your own personal action plan for your HIT job search. Job searching is a full time job, and with any endeavor, you need a Plan so you can maximize your productivity and results. This module will help you stay focused, motivated and productive.
